Philosophy

Most workers in an organization are "good corporate citizens". They will act for the good of the organization, provided they understand the importance of a subject.

  • With the current technology of automated tools it is impossible to identify which content is of importance to the organization. Tools that search for patterns or keywords do not understand the context of the document. Often they fail to understand the importance of document security, and the danger it poses to the organization should documents fall in the wrong hands
  • In most cases, only the creator of the content knows its important and potential dangers.
  • Most workers are not aware of or exposed to information security and document classifications during their daily routine.
  • Raising awareness is an ongoing process. Short term measurements for raising awareness (courses/workshops) have short term effects.
  • Successful document classification solutions must handle “hard copy” documents as well.
  • Improve Security

Classifying all office output reduces the mishandling of sensitive information

  • Control sensitive data

The movement of information with a classification label can be monitored and blocked

  • Increase awareness

Classification by user forces the user to think and act security

  • Enforce security policy

Classification tangibly enforcers organization security policies
